About Modern Transportation

Modern Transportation was founded in 1945 by Mr. Pete Barnard, the owner and founder of Modern Welding Company. As Pete was expanding his business across the country, he quickly realized that commercial travel was quite time-consuming and sought a more efficient method of air travel by purchasing his first private airplane. Modern Welding has since owned eleven aircraft, and operated Modern Transportation in Owensboro, KY. We look forward to your visit and hope that Modern Transportation makes your trip to Owensboro memorable.

Amenities

Aircraft Parking

Stay for a day or stay for a week. Modern Transportation has plenty of safe parking space on the airport apron that is gated and monitored 24/7. All tarmac parking is within a short walking distance of our lounge and courtesy car services.

Courtesy Car

A courtesy car is available for your ground transportation needs. For more extended stays, we can arrange for a rental car through one of many nationally recognized car rental companies. Please call us before your arrival if a car rental is needed.

Lounge

Relax in our full-service lounge with all the amenities to make you feel at home. Our lounge includes a kitchen, restroom, office, shower, and relaxed seating with a TV. Please give us a call prior to your arrival for any special requests.

Fueling Services

Our JetA services are provided upon request during normal business hours. However, an FBO manager can be reached at the number below for refueling outside normal business hours.

Owensboro is the culinary and cultural hub of western Kentucky, with a wide variety of wonderfully delicious, locally owned restaurants and a thriving arts community. No trip to Owensboro is complete without enjoying Owensboro’s signature hickory-smoked barbecue mutton and flavorful burgoo, sampling some of Kentucky’s finest bourbons, and exploring our ties to the roots of bluegrass music.
